Weird problem with the destroyed all humans 2 demo
I downloaded the DAH 2 demo to test it out and check how the game runs. I saw around 270-280 FPS in the main menu, probably because the fans were running louder than usual. My temperatures and fan speeds were normal, and the fans stayed under 60%. Anyone else experienced similar problems with the DAH 2 demo?
Other titles allow you to maintain your FPS during setup. I recall New World doing something similar, and I burned a card last year.
They’re dealing with issues that should be fixed long before launch, and the game is just two months away. This isn’t just alpha testing—it’s not even beta. It’s unusual for a game to cause hardware damage like this. I’m not sure if it’s possible for a game to harm your PSU or PC.
Many titles include this feature in practice. You shouldn't stress or restrict your frame rate if you're interested. New World appears to have hurt GPU performance, even though EVGA attributed it to subpar construction rather than the game itself.
I've heard about it too, but it wasn't the only time something like that occurred. I don't really recall any game causing a PC to crash completely. Still, I'm a bit concerned about the DAH 2 DEMO and that's why I'm reaching out.
It wasn't exactly the New World, though it's quite funny not to limit FPS in such cases. A GPU issue was the culprit. Of course, this sparked concerns among those less familiar with PCs—like older gamers in flight sim circles—that high menus could crash your system. If you're keeping temps under control and fan speeds aren't maxed out, you should be fine. This game dates back to 2006, and even a remastered version won't cause problems on today's hardware.
Apologies for the delayed response. I learned about New World, but my focus was on power consumption. This issue only appeared in the menus, not during demo playthroughs. I also tested it with other titles such as HITMAN 3, where I achieved 300 FPS in menus without any problems. It seems like a significant power draw is involved, though I’m unsure of the cause—especially since temperatures are normal and fans are functioning well. The conclusion points to the PSU fan being the likely culprit because it lacks a sensor I can monitor. This needs urgent attention; releasing the game in this condition isn’t feasible.
It's the sole game that handles this situation. I tested HITMAN 3 and achieved 320 FPS in its main menus without any problems. Also tried with other titles and the issue didn’t appear. Successfully replicated in DAH 2 during 3-4 demo runs, only in the menus. In-game it wasn’t visible. If the PC case fans, GPU fan, or CPU fans were functioning normally—around 60% load and temperatures near 61°C—I’m convinced the PSU fan was the culprit since I can’t monitor it directly.
Temperatures are normal, no major issues detected so far. Various games are running, different graphics tasks are happening, and system loads are fluctuating. Are we discussing CPU, GPU, and PSU? It seems everything is functioning as expected. Heat builds up in electronics during operation. Likely the PSU gets warm, which triggers the fan. You can use tools like MSI Afterburner or HWiNFO64 to monitor power consumption and see usage graphs before and after changes.
