Hi there! I’ve been a console gamer for most of my life. Recently, I bought a custom desktop PC and have been playing it. However, I noticed both the CPU and graphics card aren’t performing at their best—they’re stuck around 50 to 55 degrees. I’m running an Intel i9 12900K with an RTX 4070ti on an ASUS Prime Z690-A LGA 1700, using 32GB of DDR5 RAM in dual-channel at 5200MHz. The BIOS only adjusted the RAM XMP settings to allow it to run at 5200MHz, but nothing else has changed. Do you have any tips or guides for tuning this setup specifically?
At standard configurations, a 12900K should operate smoothly. Your processor temperature appears quite low. Check the BIOS settings and verify that PL1 and PL2 turbo limits are at their highest values. The default power restrictions might restrict peak performance. What cooling system are you employing? Execute some benchmark tests to evaluate your setup against comparable machines with identical CPU and GPU. Use Cinebench R23 for this. Share your results online to compare with other 12900K users. Open HWiNFO to confirm your machine runs at full capacity during the test. If throttling occurs, review the Limit Reasons area in HWiNFO to identify the cause. Expect CPU temps well above 55°C during a full stress test when the 12900K isn’t throttling.
