Weekly Blue Screens and Bug Check 0x000000b8?
Here’s a revised version of your text:
Hello, I’m currently facing some difficulties with my computer and am quite confused about how to resolve it. I brought it to a repair shop where they replaced the CPU and MOBO. After returning it, the device began displaying a blue screen intermittently, roughly once a week. I collected mini dumps, which I’ve attached above. I’d like to take it back for further diagnosis, but I’m concerned because the previous service provider already made some unsettling changes and took three months to install the CPU and MOBO I provided, so I’m not confident in their reliability.
I believe the problem started after installing the Samsung Magician program shortly after I restored my PC, although I’m not entirely sure. It’s possible this issue is entirely my responsibility—I have no idea.
Here are the specifications:
- MOBO: MSI B550 GAMING PLUS
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
- GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Super Hybrid
- CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X
- RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 3600 (PC4-28800)
- PSU: Corsair RMx Series (2021), RM850x, 850W, GOLD
- Drives: Random old 1TB HDD (storage only), Samsung 850 EVO 250GB, Samsung 980 1TB
- Internet: Connected via Ethernet
- OS: Windows 11 Home
- Keyboard: Steelseries Apex 3
- Mouse: Corsair Harpoon RGB Pro
- Mic: HyperX Quadcast S
Do you think this covers everything? The blue screens occur under heavy load, but my CPU and GPU never reach full capacity during the crashes. Monitoring shows no overheating or other anomalies. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
With the new CPU and motherboard, did you also modify the RAM? If not, I’d test one stick at a time to see if the blue screens persist. Have you executed sfc /scannow? Because you have multiple drives, I recommend running ckdsk as well. Is your Windows OS a fresh installation or a copy? Installing new Nvidia drivers would be necessary even without GeForce Experience.
Are you connecting via Bluetooth or using the microphone when the blue screens occur?
You might have forgotten to visit the MSI support page to verify that your motherboard BIOS and drivers are current.
I didn't swap the RAM since it was new (under six months). I think calling it a "repair" isn't appropriate because nothing was wrong before; I just swapped in another MOBO and CPU because the previous one was getting older. I removed the CPU first to fix the MOBO, which caused damage. Ran sfc, it detected bad files and fixed them. I also ran CHKDSK before, but did it again without issues.
I plan a fresh Nvidia install and remove GeForce Experience. The Windows setup was clean after getting the PC back, thanks to the new parts. I don’t use Bluetooth much, but I do use the microphone often. Occasionally I experience full freezes where the sound driver fails—my custom color stops working and restarts in a rainbow pattern. I have to manually reset the whole PC because it stops functioning. I haven’t found a fix yet, even after reinstalling the drivers.
BIOS is up to date except for the latest October update.
I’ll configure my PC for a Memory Dump soon (hopefully soon). It sounds like this might be a RAM problem, which would be bad. Luckily, it’s still covered under warranty at least.
I have a complete dump file now... I don’t know how to read these. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
I’m sorry, I had to convert this into a RAR file since it doesn’t work with ZIP in Windows. It just shows an empty prompt and does nothing.
