I'm working on a Windows 10 home 64-bit laptop running an Asus rog laptop (GL552VW) with a Core i7 6700HQ, GTX 960M, 32GB DDR4 RAM. The system has a SanDisk SATA m.2 SSD. All software is current. When I start Chrome or any web browser and search something, the page loads but the browser pauses for about a minute before resuming normally. After the pause, everything functions perfectly. During the freeze, CPU usage jumps to 40-70%. I suspect this is due to the Font Cache Service. After closing services.msc and stopping the service there, Chrome worked fine. It's a temporary fix since I don't want to turn it off permanently or manually restart it each time. Setting it to manual mode didn't help. The browser still crashes when it tries to launch. I'm unsure why this happens.

Are you using the M.2 drive for all your data or just a few apps? If yes, it might be overworking the main drive, which could lead to issues. Consider swapping Chrome to the SSD briefly and check if the problem persists.

Sorry, I haven’t managed to respond yet—I’ve been a bit occupied. That seems unusual. Have you set up any fonts for Windows? Did you make any adjustments to your system recently? Another helpful suggestion is to recreate the issue and check the Event Viewer for error details.

I also use Slimbrowser https://www.slimbrowser.net/es. I haven't experienced any problems with it. It might work well for you too.

I prefer hot dogs. Using Slim Browser might assist in fixing issues with Chrome.

I completely overlooked this discussion. I managed to resolve the issue by turning off the Windows Font Cache Service, which worked perfectly. No other problems have arisen, and it's been five months now. Appreciate all the help!
