I've heard that keeping the voltage locked at idle can lead to some power loss, so I was curious about alternatives. I have an MSI Click 5 BIOS with adaptive mode, but it doesn’t seem to help me. I’m trying to hit 1.270V under load with a 5GHz all-core OC on my 10700K, and I’m not sure if override is the only solution left besides using locked voltage.
You're experiencing a drop in voltage while the CPU stays at 5GHz even when idle. This could indicate an issue with power delivery or voltage regulation, possibly due to a faulty regulator, insufficient current, or a problem with the power supply unit. Check the voltage regulator and ensure it's providing stable output.
I'm adjusting the overclock settings with -Offset undervolt. Specifically, I increased the All Core multiplier from 43 to 47 while keeping the stock auto voltages. Then I added a -0.095mV adjustment on the voltage curve (undervolt). Now my system behaves like stock auto voltages but with a flatter voltage profile. At idle, the Vcore stays around 0.700V and climbs to about 1.380V. I can't drop below 0.095mV or it will cause crashes during idle.
The enhanced turbo feature isn't active, the power plan was adjusted, and the CPU ratio mode remains set to dynamic but no improvements were seen.
Yes, thank you for checking. It seems my earlier post didn’t work as intended. My clock speed doesn’t maintain maximum turbo at idle. All BIOS settings are standard—part of the default configuration I mentioned plus XMP and ReSizable Bar enabled. In Windows, I’m using the regular balanced power setting. Are you certain nothing is consuming CPU resources? Have you looked in Task Manager or elsewhere?
