We already have Bluetooth 5.0 devices available, like the Galaxy S8. Are anyone aware of any Bluetooth 5.0 USB dongles or PCIe cards you could purchase? I struggled to find Bluetooth 4.2 options, except for a PCIe card, so it seems 4.0 is the current limit, right?

Purchase an Noedic nRF52 development board and link it through USB to your computer. Develop a driver and that's it /s We'll be ready soon for the release.

It shouldn’t be this way. I mentioned earlier that Bluetooth 4.2 came out a while back, and it looks like there are still no compatible dongles available. It feels like we’re all stuck with Bluetooth 4.0.

It’s simply a step forward rather than a major change. Devices will handle its capabilities better than a computer. - http://www.mouser.com/pdfdocs/bluetooth-5-faq.pdf Why are you interested in BT 5.0?

Do you really possess a peripheral for pairing? The development kits with 5.0 are available, though adjusting the hardware chips requires patience. Also, the BT stack is extensive, and refining the firmware involves significant effort.

Mainly due to improved performance and power efficiency, I now own a BT5 device. From then on, more gadgets are expected to support BT5 as well. It looks like sticking with BT2 or BT3 is unnecessary when BT4 is available. Technology is clearly advancing.

If there's a market they'll spend this resources doing it. In fact, I REALLY do hope that BT5 drivers work better under W10 than most BT4 drivers out there, especially Broadcom ones. I end up having so many problems with BT Headphones that I really hope things will get fixed in future releases.
