The system detects my external storage device, but following the recent Windows 11 update, the application for the drive fails to operate.

Did you upgrade to version 11 last night or simply receive an update?
Are you using the most recent release of WD Discovery? It appears to be from January.

I made the switch to Windows 11 a few months back. Yesterday was another update. The link you shared indicates I’m up to date already.

It appears this is likely the one you're referring to, which is currently ready for installation on your PC.
You can verify this by reviewing the update history.
What is its purpose? It seems to manage updates for WD Software.
Do you require it to actually activate the drive?

I received the external 2TB drive for backing up my 1TB HD. I also have a matching HD, but I haven't installed it yet. It functioned properly before the latest Windows 11 update.

All issues beginning with Windows might resolve themselves after another update. It seems like an unforeseen outcome of a different modification.
You might remove the update and enable Windows Update to pause for several weeks to observe if the problem is fixed.

backup notices? Can you provide a screenshot? Upload it to an image-sharing site and share the link here.
I’m not sure why I gave you the 10 instructions, but most of them are similar—just the menus have been moved.

No more notifications about the screenshot have been sent. Removing the update is straightforward, even with the Win10 link.
