I'm assisting a friend with improving their PC's storage setup. They have an ASRock B550 Phantom Gaming 4/ac mainboard and a Crucial P5 (550GB) as the primary boot drive, running Windows 10 x64. The system includes two HDDs operating as a RAID0 array via AMD Raidxpert 2. After attempting to transfer the Windows installation to a new SSD, the WD Black SN770 NVMe 2TB failed to clone (Windows restarted repeatedly), so they opted for a secondary drive instead. Since the mainboard lacks a dedicated M-Keyed NVMe slot (though another model has one), they suggested using a carrier card and inserting it into the PCIe3x4 port. They tried mounting the old SSD in the M.2 slot alongside the new one, but both faced boot issues—either looping or failing to start properly. After replacing the SSD on the carrier card, Windows booted normally, though it would loop if restarted. Once they re-cloned the old SSD onto the new one, it worked correctly. Current observations: the new SSD isn't showing in Device Manager, Storage Spaces isn't recognizing it, Windows Storage Dashboard ignores it, and RAID settings remain disabled. It appears in UEFI but doesn't function properly on Linux booted from USB. The cloned Windows installation still exists, but formatting was successful using GParted. I'm at a loss and seeking guidance.
