This doesn’t make sense because they can simply provide you with a new static or dynamic IP address, but it’s AT&T and they’re not very smart—just accept it since it’s free. You can install a VPN on your PC to protect against attacks.

Several businesses lack understanding, but that doesn't matter. A reliable free VPN option could be a good choice.

PIA (private internet access) I think it should be around thirty dollars a year, or you might want to be extra cautious about the people you interact with.

A Destiny player shared an in-depth piece on safeguarding against DDOS attacks. Given his status as a well-known streamer, he needed robust defense measures. Check out his blog at http://blog.destiny.gg/protection-from-ddos-attacks/

Do you understand the root cause of the DOS issue? DOS can happen unintentionally due to poor software or even microwave interference when using wireless connections. Simply changing your modem won’t resolve application-related problems. I’ve faced DOS attacks from Steam Voice Chat and being in a Counter Strike server where an admin shared my IP with someone else. Skype also makes you vulnerable. If your home router is set up to get an IP from your ISP via DHCP, just disconnect and reconnect your WAN/modem link—you’ll get a fresh IP. UPNP can also expose you to DOS attacks; I’m not sure how it functions. Also, if the attacker targeted the VPN IP, wouldn’t that produce similar effects? Then a VPN would be ineffective.
