I observed that my CPU isn't reaching the high speeds I expect. The temperatures checked showed the CPU around 90°C. The AIO isn't increasing fan speed even though the water temperature is only about 31°C. I'm using a Corsair H115i Platinum on an [email protected]. Any suggestions to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated! Edit: Sorry, I didn't mention these temperatures were under full load.
Another H100i model failed the same way, which means I moved to air cooling instead.
Did it occur during maximum usage? Your coolant temperatures are roughly 30°C, which feels quite typical for you.
The water shouldn't remain cool because it's absorbing heat from the CPU, even though it can't circulate easily. The thermal sensor located in the CPU block or pump assembly helps monitor this process.
I re-applied the thermal paste again—had some Corsair prep work done and it’s really bad, just doesn’t melt at all. It stayed on the waterblock layer. Temperatures have dropped now, but I can’t put much pressure on my CPU because the board won’t boot. Asus Maximus Hero VII is acting up; it can’t handle heavy stress. My waterblock is now loose and moves easily. After a 20-minute stress test, I never saw temps above 85°C, even at 70-75°C.
The idle times matched yours, yet even at half load it jumped to 85°C instantly. I switched back to air after realizing it wasn’t worth the trouble or expense of fixing it post-warranty, a decision I might have made earlier before opting for an AIO.
