Recently added the cooling unit to an Asus ROG Maximus VIII Hero board. While installing, noticed the water pump header had its pinout flipped compared to standard fans. No immediate issues were seen, so fans went to the CPU_Fan header and the pump to the water pump header. During a failed shutdown, only the pump lost power and was the most noticeable part. Checked BIOS and RPM readings, which showed ~9200 RPM, matching typical values. The goal is determining the correct header/pinout for the pump.

you didn't receive the adapter from the box?.... just kidding, if you have an unused PSU with a 3-pin fan header, try opening it. The reverse pin you mentioned is the first one I've ever seen. My point is to open the header and adjust, using a short knife to peel and slice.
