Water on a mechanical keyboard can sometimes be fixed, but it depends on the extent of damage.
Hi, I accidentally watered my HyperX Alloy FPS Mechanical Keyboard. Right away I unplugged it, used a hair dryer to dry, and left it in the sun for several days. After reconnecting it to the computer, some keys started responding erratically, like ghost touches. You can watch a short video of the keystrokes here: https://streamable.com/23pg3f and https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Iqg0w-E...sp=sharing. It’s a nice keyboard, but I’m not sure if it can be fixed or needs repair. Thanks for your help!
I didn't take it apart. I just tilted it down and exposed it to sunlight for a few days. I'm uncertain if it's safe to disassemble it, do you have another approach?
Is this a recurring problem or something one-time?
You can disassemble it if you understand your particular model, as there should be a teardown video available. The remaining water inside is probably what's leading to the ghosting issue.
