Water cooling setup inquiry Question about 13900k water cooling system
I start by pushing -> a block appears -> another block stops -> radiator is active -> pump returns. When a GPU is in the loop, the GPU block often comes before the CPU block because of where the pump is positioned (pump -> GPU block -> CPU block -> radiators -> back to pump). The order usually doesn't affect temperatures. If the in/out direction is reversed, it might disrupt flow and cause problems. My CPU blocks always have the right flow direction, with dedicated ports for in/out due to design. Running them backward would likely raise temperatures significantly, or the system might ignore the labels.
i have d5-pump/res > GPU/GPU parallel > cpu > rads 360 > 240 > 140 > 120 > pump. the order isn't really important. what matters is using the right input for the cpu and gpus. because of how liquid contacts the cooling plate or ribs in the waterblocks, it still stays under 35c during idle. fans start curling at 35c and reach a max of 50c. usually, cpu temps stay below 90 and gpu temps under 60. i decided to switch to thicker rads. i'm using three fans: two 360s and one 480 rad, which is the maximum setup. this keeps the case temps around 60. the current is coming from an old define r6 c.
Updated - corrected IN/OUT settings on the CPU block, which improved performance. Now idle time is around 35 minutes and Cinebench score is 92 versus previous 45 idle and 100 Cinebench. Contract frame expected Thursday, I’ll test it then.
Updated the VRM from the loop and added the thermalright contact plate—results were identical. Decided to upgrade by purchasing the Thermaltake Pacific W9. After replacing the Corsair XC7 and reinstalling the VRMs, temperatures dropped significantly. Idle: 27°C, Cinebench full load 10 minutes: 70-77°C.
