Hey everyone, yesterday I accidentally spilled some water from a bottle while tidying up my table. I rushed down the stairs and came back to find the screen completely black. Looking closer on my PC, I noticed a small drop of water on the motherboard. The machine was open because I had just vacuumed it. It wasn’t regular tap water—it was cold water we bought at the store labeled as ‘source water.’ The fan seemed to behave oddly, spinning and then stopping repeatedly. After turning it off and unplugging the power cable, I cleaned up the drop. Once I restarted it, the fan resumed spinning and a white light appeared on the motherboard side. But that was it. I dried everything and waited 24 hours before trying again today. This time the fan kept spinning and the white light stayed on. The EZ debug indicator lit up on the CPU. When I reinserted the CPU chip, nothing happened. After removing the DDR module, I saw a tiny white wire protruding. I’m not sure if this happened during the incident or earlier, and I haven’t had any problems before. This PC is six months old and runs an MSI Z-390 Pro board with an Intel 9400f CPU, 1x G-Skill, 16GB DDR4, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660, Corsair CX550M power supply. Thanks!

Retrieve the CMOS battery. Allow the setup to dry for 24 to 48 hours. Wish you were here.

You caused the issue by turning it back on. You might be able to clean your motherboard with water safely, just let it dry afterward. The problem happens when electricity moves through the parts. It’s not a good idea.

You believed it wouldn’t affect the system since it was just a small drop. After cleaning and waiting, you resumed use, but it seems the motherboard isn’t functioning properly anymore.

Well there is a good chance that its dead.. but i know some times electronics can survive water, you have videos on YT about it.. linus Dell laptop, jayztwocents 1650 GPU so yea even it was turned on i would try to dip it in rice in a dry environment or even in the Sun and leave it for a day or two (just if you leave it on sun dont leave it on the rain XD)

Also if you notice any burn mark, it likely means it's dead then...

It seems this item has no markings and appears brand new, right?
