Hello, I'm struggling to decide between the H97 Motherboard and a non-K Intel Processor, or the Z97 Motherboard and a K Intel Processor for future overclocking. Would it be worth doing? Is it challenging? Also, could you recommend which processor offers better value for money (budget): 4590 - 4690/90K - 4790/90K?

If you truly believe you won't need to overclock, getting a 4690 (non k) and a h97 motherboard would be wise. It's better to have the option now, as investing a bit more now could prevent future issues later.

Overclocking is simple and beneficial. The 4690k stands out as the top budget option for gaming. If your main focus is gaming, choose the i5-4690k because i7 models don't fully utilize hyperthreading and aren't ideal for this purpose. On average, i7 offers only a slight improvement of 2-3 frames compared to i5.

It's clear that the 4790k offers better future-proofing due to its higher cost, though overclocking might extend its lifespan. The optimal balance of performance and value lies with the 4590, but for today's gaming needs, I'd suggest the 4690k.

That's not accurate, as numerous games utilize more than four cores and take advantage of hyper-threading. The Cry Engine and Frostbite in BF4 are just examples; there are likely many others as well.

The 4790k seems more future-proof due to its higher cost, but overclocking might extend your CPU's life. The optimal balance is between the 4590 and the 4690k for today's gaming needs. If you're not planning to overclock, should I suggest purchasing a Z97 motherboard as well?

For optimal value, consider a Xeon 1231 V3 with an H97 board. These components are priced close to an i5 but deliver performance comparable to an i7.
