You just completed your first build and everything worked fine in BIOS. The main challenge was setting up the motherboard and placing the IO shield inside the case. The BIOS temperature shows the CPU at 37°C and the motherboard at 31°C—this seems normal. Regarding the internet issue, you encountered a pop-up about no internet connection during Windows installation. After checking online, you found a command in CMD to bypass it, which you applied later. Despite this, you still couldn’t get an internet connection. The Windows installation ended up creating a separate 46 GB drive for Windows, which is unusual. You’re wondering why this happened and how to fix it so Windows stays on your main drive © instead of the boot drive (D).

If you're worried about the editable letter, when setting up Windows, remove all non-Windows drives, install Windows, then power down the PC and reconnect the remaining drives.

I can't simply reset them since they're M.2 drives and I don’t want to open everything up or remove parts. The letter changes shouldn’t affect performance, but I’m confused about why it’s happening. It seems like a normal issue for this size, though the temperature might be a factor.

Make sure it’s set to the correct letter instead of C drive. If needed, adjust the allocation so the drive is properly reassigned.

That’s why I need to understand what occurred so I can reinstall correctly. I’m unsure if I’ve learned or grasped the issue and how it progresses. If I attempt a reinstall, it might just repeat the same problem. Changing C to E and D to C still leaves only 46 GB. Do you think this is typical?

It's unusual, but it's doable to create partitions on a drive. Check out tutorials on making partitions for guidance—maybe you'll spot the error you made earlier.

No one understands the exact cause? Can you divide a hard drive into various partitions in BIOS prior to installing Windows?

You can increase the size of the partition in Disk Management.

Other tools exist, yet Disk Management remains a reliable option.
