Was die AMD 9960X ein Papierlaunch war?
The release date was July 31st… I reached out to around 14 CPU retail stores and 8 system builders, but none of them have an AMD 9960X CPU and they haven’t received a delivery timeline from AMD. This looks like a paper announcement… I’ve contacted retailers outside the US, so I’m not sure it’s about tariffs. Although the system I’m working on has added roughly $3500 in costs because of tariffs and delays, components have arrived more slowly… but I can still secure the parts I need for this build, except for the CPU.
Newegg lists the 9965X, and the 9970X is unavailable there. The 9960X is not listed on Newegg. Coming soon to B&H.
The 9965WX requires an 8-channel setup, but my current motherboard only supports 4 channels (designed for 9960X, 9970X, 9980X). Even though the socket matches the sTR5, I’m unsure if an 8-channel CPU will function properly on a 4-channel board.
Please specify which motherboard you are thinking about or currently using.
You'll discover compatible CPUs at the provided link: https://www.asus.com/us/motherboard...es...-SAGE-WIFI
And supports the 9975WX CPU ordered from B&H, with delivery expected on Friday the 29th.
Thanks for the assistance – the 9960X was my top choice because it works best for DaVinci Resolve/Fusion tasks, but I can utilize the additional cores in the 9975WX for software rendering and AI projects I’m developing.
I suppose upgrading the motherboard later would be an option for an 8-channel board, though currently I only have 4x64GB ECC modules, making it unnecessary without more RAM cards.
I'm glad you're enjoying it. Have a great time with the new creature.
