I forgot to leave my computer unattended while I was eating. When I returned, I saw it had restarted on its own. The event viewer showed something unusual, and the task manager reported a very short uptime—just about 24 minutes after the update. That’s not typical behavior. Is this something normal?

It’s rare to leave the PC on continuously, yet it occasionally powers down when a scheduled update occurs during off-hours. This behavior isn’t unusual unless the update triggered an unexpected restart.

The update itself shouldn't trigger a system reboot.

The security definitions weren't the reason for the reboot. It was the other updates that triggered it, as expected. Also, the Warning entry in the log indicates something concerning.

It might need a restart to apply the update. Based on the existing setup, it could align perfectly with how you previously arranged Windows Update, making this just a natural outcome.
