Warzone low fps
Warzone low fps
Hi,
Warzone has completely ruined my new PC. It seems I’ve poured all my money into a waste bin.
My graphics settings are set to very low levels, always aiming for maximum performance.
The CPU temperature is around 40°C on the desktop and peaks at 60°C during games.
The GPU never goes above 78°C.
What’s going on? I’ve tried every possible fix.
FPS ranges from 80-100 in some areas, averaging about 70, with occasional drops to 60.
The game should be heavily taxing the CPU, yet it still runs so poorly...?
Here are my specs:
Windows 10 (64-bit)
- High/Ultimate Performance Po
i9 10850K @ 4.8 GHz
16 GB DDR4 3200 MHz (Dual channel)
GTX 1060 6 GB
MSI Z490-A PRO (BIOS default / XMP Profile on)
Overclocking won’t improve performance because the issue lies within the game. Gamers with GTX 1060 report 70 to 80 fps at high resolutions, indicating the problem isn’t with your GPU but the game itself. Windows version you’re using matters—Activision suggests ver 1809 or newer. Someone with a similar setup reinstalled the OS and everything worked fine afterward. If Game Mode is active in Windows, disable it. Modern Warfare may set an incorrect core count, causing FPS drops and stutters. To fix: open Task Manager, go to the Performance tab, click CPU, and check the number of cores your PC has.
I believe your GPU is limiting performance due to your processor.
It's clear whether this game is challenging for a GPU with sufficient VRAM, especially at the lowest configurations. Many discussions mention problems with RTX models. I don't think it's worth upgrading just for the sake of it, since those GPUs are quite costly.
As I said, I have 1080p with lowest graphic settings possible, so it shouldn't be that heavy for the GPU. So, I assume I should have at least 100 FPS with this new CPU. I will try cleaning the cache but this is a fresh OS install and the PC is 100% new so it's weird..
What happens if you hit escape ingame to pause then same again to unpause? Apparently recent update causes fps drops and hitting escape helps. If it's the same situation for you, you know it's the game and hopefully a fix in on it's way soon.
In certain situations it can be helpful.
The game shows very weak optimization, which is something I was aware of but didn’t think would be this severe. Upgrading to an i9 10850K didn’t improve performance noticeably—there’s almost no frame change. Also, my previous RAM was DDR3 at 1600 MHz, so I’m quite doubtful about the situation.
I plan to test older NVIDIA drivers soon and check for problematic Windows updates that might be affecting performance.
Edit: I’ll also try to overclock the GPU as much as possible; if that doesn’t work, I’ll have to find another game to play...
Overclocking won’t help because the issue lies within the game. Gamers with GTX 1060 are achieving 70 to 80 fps at high 1080p, indicating the problem isn’t with your GPU but with the game itself. Windows version you’re using matters—Activision suggests ver 1809 or newer. Someone with a similar issue reported reinstalling the OS and it worked fine afterward. If Game Mode is active in Windows, disable it. Modern Warfare may set an incorrect core count, causing FPS drops and stutters. To fix: open Task Manager, go to the Performance tab, click CPU, check your core count (e.g 6), then in Modern Warfare’s Documents folder, select players, click advanced options, set RenderWorkerCount to match your cores, save and exit for better performance in Warzone.
