@Poinkachu @SorryBella tagging fellow indos im looking to buy a 5500 very soon but now im considering new vs used as the new tray cpus only have a 100rb ish diff compared to a used cpu ontop of that im also considering warranty when buying new cause thats literally the only point of buying new and im just wondering if the warranties are different between boxed and tray chips as i dont give a shit about the tiny aluminum cooler thatll get smashed by a 20-30rb lga 775 copper core 5600 isnt that much more but not a consideration as the imc is garbage, id rather a 3100 if i wanted to toy around with the garbage matisse/vermeer imc which i probably will mainly for debunking nonsense myths and personal knowledge

This chip is intended for memory testing only, not for raw performance. Warranty coverage remains consistent whether the tray is used or not.

Focusing mainly on monitoring but I suspect it could account for most of the cache shortage if not addressed soon. If we run proper DDR4 speeds (5000+) though I’ll also need to get a 5600 to verify later, I think selling it soon might be the best option.

You are not making up a 10%-15% performance difference with memory ocing especially when ocing ram on ryzen is flaky and there's heavy diminishing returns unless you get the memory controller to clock up too. Even the the best I've seen is like 4200 cl 18 with a mem controller at 2100 on a 5800x and it was barely 5% faster than it's normal 3600 cl16 counterpart. Haven't seen anyone do better on am4 yet. To be fair I don't look into it much either. So highly doubtful you would even get 5000mhz ever going and just buying a 5600 would be more performant always.

In ID things work differently. Trays typically come from Aliexpress imports (though I’m not sure anymore since it’s banned, but that’s not important). This means the seller’s warranty applies. That’s why if the seller drops ship or disappears, you’re in trouble (just like the Queen Processor RMA nightmare on Facebook). For the box, it’s usually AMD’s global distributor warranty—three years—and it covers RMA requests even outside the distributor or seller channels. Also, seriously. If you’d mentioned it two weeks ago you wanted a 5500, I’d have advised you to buy it for 900k. You had the full set and a month’s warranty left.

The imcs are different though i do see a golden imc on a 5600 running 4200/4266 challenging a 5500 running 5200+ Cezzane can actually do 2500+ fclk and apparently those pheonix apus dont suffer much of a performance hit with half uclk so maybe something similar might apply here and i can run 5600+ without even having to push the vsoc that much Board and rams will be the main issue but theres an x570i aorus pro for cheap which im probably gonna grab which leaves me at ram and of course hynix djr is annoyingly hard to source cause all of em are either dogshit afrs or meh cjrs (will be buying cjrs to test those 1.45v death claims) Alright then i guess tray is out of my consideration and now its between buying used and box Id have to assume that if the 5500 just up and dies on me despite me having done nothing to it i can just rma it but what happens if i killed the stupid thing (plausible as im likely going to touch the 1.6v vsoc mark knowing me) and try to rma it? if it doesnt hedge me against accidentally killing the thing from shoving a bunch of voltage through it id be more inclined to buy used instead =p

It's better to be cautious about the source rather than relying on assumptions. Honestly, with so many daily posts about packages being stuck (including my own if you saw my update) and RMA delays or denials on Queen Processor, I'm skeptical they'll protect me. That would be RMA fraud and would break Rule 6 on r/overclocking. Most RMA staff probably wouldn't catch it unless it's visibly damaged, but from an ethical standpoint, it's questionable. Stay safe with your voltage settings.

Check the gap and verify the warranty comes from AMD Indonesia (or at least be sure the store will honor it). If so, purchase a warranty. For a used 5600x, I have an available one that hasn’t been used for about two years.

Other than the obvious issues (died at low voltage/non oc, a few other oddities), it’ll take some time before I decide to purchase one. I’ll let you know once I’ve got one for comparison.
