While gaming reached its maximum temperature of 70C, the main problem was that the game would crash a few times. It seems the issue might be related to CPU or GPU overclocking, but it's not clear if a reboot was needed.
Consider reducing the GPU overclock and see how it performs; if it fails, try increasing the CPU voltage. It works well for me and stays within safe temperature limits. High for my preference but still completely safe.
Reduced the GPU OC settings and it appeared to fix the problem, planning to try again tomorrow. Also, before I even pushed this chip overclock, it would have stayed around the low 60s even with the Corsair H100i.
Wow, not much improvement in temperature. Still decent.
For optimal temperatures, consider removing the CPU, using Liquid Ultra or Liquid Pro between the die and IHS, and reinstalling the IHS. This should significantly lower your temps.
I’ve fully delidded my board, so I’m running bare die. Liquid Pro cut my temps by about 15 degrees compared to MX4. Previously at 5GHz I was around 90 under full load, but now I’m around 70. Usually much better.

The same procedure applies but using a 4790K instead. You may opt for nail polish as an alternative to the silicon for covering the surface mount parts.
And you don't have to adjust the IHS. Since the Liquid pro will solidify and serve as the adhesive, just ensure it's installed precisely in your system to maintain proper alignment. This way, if you ever need to service the CPU, it will appear as though nothing went wrong.
