Help! My pc keeps waking from sleep! I did the wake check using cmd and it returned with 0 which can't be correct because I just watched it light up with the fans coming on several times in the last couple hours. I don't recall this being an issue until a few month ago when I walked into the room and saw it light up for a few seconds to mb a minute before going back to sleep so it's possible it's always done this and I just wasn't in the room during the few seconds it comes back on. I've unplugged everything but the power cord and that has only extended the time between the brief power ups so now instead of powering back up every 1.5-3 minutes like it was this morning it's doing so every 10-20 minutes. Previously I only noticed it coming back on occasionally, nowhere near as frequent as today.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
Please list the specs to your build like so:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model. BIOS version for your motherboard at this moment of time.
You've posted this thread in the Windows 11 section, if that wasn't in err, please mention the version(not edition) for your OS.
As for your predicament, can you see if disabling your NIC and/or your wireless adapter helps alleviates your issue?

Microsoft tends to keep things concealed, yet a "sleep" feature named hibernate should exist. When using hibernate, the device operates almost identically to being completely powered off. It preserves the memory on the disk. You might actually switch off the power button—this is one method to stop it from waking up. The drawback is it requires slightly longer than regular sleep to resume, but if you’re not using the computer for hours, it could be preferable to the standard option.

I believe certain activities can still activate the PC even during hibernate when BIOS settings permit network traffic to trigger wake-up. I haven’t fully clarified this yet, as Windows appears capable of modifying these BIOS configurations on some systems. You’re considering completely disabling it so no network activity will disturb the machine.

I was actually attempting to enable Wake on LAN under these circumstances.

I attempted to connect hibernate to the power button with a timer or auto, as I also prefer hibernate, but since Windows 11 it only offers sleep or power options along with timer/auto. In the sys menu it lists "sleep, hibernate, or power," yet when I click into the screen the hibernate choice in the outer menu is missing, leaving just sleep and power. I’ve discovered several sections and choices are completely absent from my menus, as mentioned in troubleshooting guides—often resulting in dead ends when following the steps. It feels like Windows 11 was poorly implemented. I’ve even performed repair installs, but the menu sections and options remain missing. Even the limited settings in the BIOS seem severely lacking. Lol... I better stop... the frustration is spilling over into my writing.

The pc is an Alienware R14 I acquired during a big sale. This time I didn’t focus much on other parts besides the processor and graphics, so I can’t be sure exactly what’s inside. I’ve gathered some details from the Dell website and used msinfo.

I should have also noted that before it would wake up, the fan and lights would turn back on, but the display stayed off.

Components:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800
CPU Cooler: Alienware liquid. Unknown beyond that.
Motherboard: Alienware OK9TKY version A01
RAM: 16 gigs
SSD: 1TB
GPU: AMD Radeon 6700 XT
Power Supply: Not certain due to issues with Windows 11 settings—tabs and sub menus are missing. Msinfo doesn’t show a "power" section under components. The "about" option in settings/system is absent, so I used msinfo32 to retrieve details. Other areas seem missing after following troubleshooting steps for other problems.

Chassis: Alienware?
Operating System: Windows 11 24H2
Monitor: Varies—sometimes a Samsung 4k gaming monitor via display port, other times connected to a TV via HDMI.

During troubleshooting in msinfo, I found a VTSIO system timer error under "problem devices" indicating insufficient free resources. The cause is unclear.

I turned off the network adapter and put the pc to sleep. The lights and fan stayed on for a few minutes before shutting down—usually only a few seconds—but it took longer (around two minutes) before it woke up again, with the fan and lights active but the display still dark. I’ve tried re-enabling the usual peripherals: mouse, keyboard, Ethernet, HDMI.
