Wait for the PC to idle before proceeding.
My display shuts down after a period of inactivity, though it doesn't fully power off. Usually I just need to move the mouse or press a key to bring it back on. Recently, however, the screen would turn off completely unless I powered down the PC. After restarting, the GPU drivers became unstable. A warning pop-up appeared claiming a Windows update had been applied and reset my driver to an older version—even though no update was actually installed. This forced me to reinstall drivers every time it occurred. The latest incident showed a Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library alert about a debug assertion failure. I haven’t replaced any components since assembling the system, except for the power supply unit, which is being upgraded soon. The issue began with my previous PSU. My specs are: 5600 CPU, RX 6600 GT GPU (driver 23.Q1.1), 4x8GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM, 850W PSU (previous model 650W), and a 1TB NVMe storage drive. Any assistance would be highly appreciated—please let me know if I missed anything important.
Use DDU to install an older AMD graphics driver. If this fails, turn off the power-saving mode that shuts down the monitor. Rather than keeping the system running idle, let it power off or hibernate. A faulty driver often leads to these problems, and newer drivers aren't always superior.
