W3680 overclock
W3680 overclock
Hello everyone, i have a Lenovo TinkStation S20 with a Xeon W3680 CPU. I tried overclocking using ThrottleStop to 3.7 GHz, but in CPU-Z it says 3.7 and MSI Afterburner only shows 3.46 GHz. It seems the BIOS is locked and I can't adjust any settings. Also, when I go beyond 3.7 GHz like 3.8 or 4.0, the PC crashes with a blue screen, and I saw a video on YouTube about overclocking an HP Z400 to 4 GHz without issues, but its BIOS is also locked. My specs are: Gigabyte GTX 670, 10 GB RAM at 1333 MHz, PSU 625W 80 Plus Bronze.
When you reach 4.0 GHz and encounter a BSOD, it clearly means overclocking is effective.
ThrottleStop supports overclocking for the W3680 across all motherboards. Rely on the reported MHz from ThrottleStop and CPU-Z.
so i don't have any opportunity to overclock on this model, right?
i should definitely consider getting a custom build?
