Hello everyone, I’m still struggling with my HP Z400... I purchased a Z400 with an X58 Mobo (second version with 6 dimmers) and a W3520 plus 12 GB DDR3 RAM. I added a GTX760 and it’s performing well for full HD gaming on esports games. However, the fans get extremely loud once Windows 10 starts up. The CPU and rear fan are quiet before that, but after Windows loads, they become very noisy. (I already have another Z400 with the same Mobo, which works fine and quietly.) I recorded CPU temperatures between 32-37°C on the cores (occasionally up to 40°C). That feels a bit high, but the new thermal paste seems sufficient. The CPU is fully covered. I used MX-4 paste, which usually works well for me. Since the CPU is power-hungry, the temps might be acceptable. But once the system has light tasks (like opening a browser), the temperatures rise to 47°C–50°C. Maybe the temperature sensor is faulty. Do you know any method to check this? You can’t adjust the fans via SpeedFan on the Z400 Mobo, so this isn’t an option here. Are there ways to manage the fans in Windows 10 Settings? I have Windows 10 Pro 64-bit installed. Should I try reinstalling it? P.S.: The original 130W TDP fan from HP is still installed (5-pin). PPS: You can’t control the fans through the BIOS either. Hope you have some suggestions. Thanks, guys. Andy

I refreshed Windows 10 and everything appeared normal. However, after applying the updates, the fans started making loud noises again. It seems the updates might be triggering this issue. Any suggestions?

Review the background activities in Task Manager and CPU usage. Experienced similar challenges with Windows 10 during my initial setup of an i7 9700F. The issue resolved itself after a short period. It appears Windows 10 handles many background processes upon a new installation.
