God dammit! I can't change the post once I add the spoiler. Khronos built GLNext (Vulkan) to support many hardware and OS types, such as Windows, Linux, SteamOS, and Android. Since Vulkan isn’t bound by WDDM like DirectX, it should work on older Windows versions too—like Windows 7, 8.1, and possibly XP. Vulkan GPU support: AMD - GCN 1.0+, Intel - Skylake: Yes. Haswell & Broadwell: unknown nVidia – starting with Kepler, Talos Principle developers announced a Vulkan release today (BETA). Nvidia released a driver here: https://developer.nvidia.com/vulkan-driver. AMD has a BETA driver at: http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles...1bbdeebb0d. Intel offers an open-source Vulkan driver for Linux: https://01.org/linuxgraphics/blogs/jekst...l-hardware
They didn't seem interested in XP anymore, and while its platform independence is good, I question if anyone would develop Vulkan apps for it. Plus, it's disappointing that Nvidia hasn't included Fermi support for Vulkan yet.
AMD appears to be promoting Talos Principle alongside Dota 2. We anticipated both companies would want a solid release, especially with the upcoming Vulkan version. The SDK and debugging resources are now available. Created by LunarG.
The initial Vulkan game is now available on Steam. It's a great title, enjoyable even without Vulkan support. You'll need to join the public beta of Talos Principle to obtain Vulkan. Otherwise, it should work with DX11 or OpenGL 4. https://steamcommunity.com/app/257510/di...651559970/ Be sure to verify that your GPU drivers support new Vulkan versions (I haven't checked yet).
For those interested in obtaining the beta Vulkan drivers and beginning to play Talos Principle, you can locate experimental drivers for Intel, AMD, and Nvidia on the following link: https://www.khronos.org/vulkan/
Uncertain about Haswell and Broadwell? They seem to back it up.
