Hey everyone, I just experienced an issue with my ASUS MB Prime 570. It seems like the VRM had some problems. According to ASUS, this falls outside the warranty period (3 years, and I bought it in March last year). For me, it looks like the electronics failed, possibly due to acid exposure. The motherboard didn’t get much stress or overclocking. Anyone have any suggestions? In the second photo you can see what’s under the heatsink/ Greetz, MRHidden.
Perhaps a spill occurred? Were choking incidents involved in the incident? Updated July 30, 2022 by JKRsega
It seems there was an issue with the board—either something got spilled on it or it has been exposed to excessive moisture. Even with the warranty, Asus won’t repair it.
The motherboard had acid drops on it, which accounts for the corrosion. It's unclear if the acid originated from a specific source. Since the case was sealed and not exposed to humidity, the situation might have developed differently. After contacting ASUS via email, they requested me to forward the device to their Czech subsidiary. Given your earlier thoughts about Caroline, it seems the CPU was also affected. I managed to coordinate with a Dutch online store. Things are now returning to the past, and I’m currently using my old i7700k. I’ll update you on the outcome. MR
The system started working once the window update was completed. Afterward, I managed to recover my backup. However, following that, all functionality ceased. It appears the chemical material inside the heatsink—referenced in the image with an arrow—is a residue from a part.
