Consider your setup carefully for the Thrustmaster TCA. With an i5 9600K, 4.9 GHz, 2080 graphics and 32 GB RAM, you should have a solid foundation. Look for a VR headset that matches your refresh rate needs—aim for something with at least 90Hz for smooth performance. The Thrustmaster TCA is a great choice if it supports high refresh rates and has good connectivity options.
I'm downloading it now since I didn't realize VR was included. I'll share my thoughts tomorrow after testing it on my Rift.
For sims, the Reverb G2 stands out as a top option. It offers 4K resolution with sharp detail, making it suitable for most titles. You might already own a similar model from your previous setup, which should work well depending on your graphics card. While it has some drawbacks like occasional availability problems, it remains the best pick right now for sims. Just keep in mind it can be hard to find, so patience is key. The Rift S with enhanced sampling is another solid alternative, especially if you want flexibility across different VR experiences.
I also thought about the rift S and the G2, but the amount of issues the G2 seem to struggle with is a bit tough. I’m more inclined toward the rift S, though I’m not sure if it’s available close to where I live.
I believe xplane includes a VR option and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 has some online demos showing VR functionality, though I don’t have access to the MFS 2020 version.
The G2 didn't meet my expectations. I ordered it right away when they launched, but the wait was long. When it finally arrived, the quality was great, yet the small play area, poor tracking, and compatibility problems with many games made it unsatisfactory. I'm hoping the upcoming version fixes these issues. An alternative like Index might be overkill for a sims fan. I tried one on launch but found it too expensive compared to my Rift S and had problems with base stations, so I returned it. The finger tracking was interesting, but no games actually use it. I missed the 144hz option. I'm looking forward to new headset announcements soon.
I finally tried it with my Rift S and it worked well at 3700x+RTX 3070. It was a bit blurry, not sure if that's the Rift S's limits or something I can improve myself. Overall, it ran great. Edit: I didn't mention the flight sim 2020 test I did—it doesn't have Xplane11.
The image looks somewhat unclear. Is the blur coming from the motion or from lower detail in the game?
