Hello, I'm working on boosting my 10700K to 5.0 GHz all cores. This is my first build, and I've followed several online tutorials to guide me through the process. A concern remains about my CPU's core voltage. Even after tweaking BIOS settings, it consistently exceeds 1.45 volts. After resetting CMOS and starting fresh, the stock core voltage stays near 1.420 volts under load, reaching about 1.450 volts as per Intel XTU and CPUZ. When adaptive mode is chosen with 1.050 volts, the readings are slightly higher—around 1.435 to 1.450 volts. Selecting a core voltage of 1.2 volts with a 51x multiplier suggests it could push up to 1.530 volts under load. Could there be an explanation for this discrepancy? Any suggestions would be helpful! It seems your "adaptive mode" setting is influencing the behavior. Under light to moderate loads, a stock CPU typically runs at higher voltage to support higher frequencies, while at full load it should stabilize to a lower voltage. I activated SVID support in the BIOS of my Asus Z490 board. This enables the CPU to utilize the voltage table programmed into it. I also turned on Offset Mode in the BIOS. Applying a negative offset voltage lets you fine-tune the voltage for optimal stability. Below is an example of running full load with Cinebench at 5000 MHz across all cores. Intel XTU only displays the VID voltage; use HWiNFO to check the Vcore. A reading of 1.42 V is significantly higher than what 10th Gen CPUs require for stable operation at that speed. The 10850K model needs higher voltage for stability, so the 10700K should perform similarly. The offset value depends on your load settings, but starting with around -100 mV could be a good point to test. If you prefer running the CPU at a lower speed, software can automatically reduce both speed and voltage without needing to change BIOS settings. The CPU manages itself and selects the right voltage based on its operating speed. Some MSI and Gigabyte boards appear to have voltage issues—check the BIOS for SVID and see if adjusting it brings things back in line.
