Noticing ASUS and Gigabyte haven't fully addressed the voltage problems on their AM5 boards, I reached out to a friend who recently installed a new build three weeks ago and encountered blue screen issues. He's running a 7800X3D on a Gigabyte X670 Gaming X AX with BIOS F6b, which is the latest available at build time and includes the VSOC lock to 1.3V. Using HWiNFO64, the CPU showed a VDDR SOC at 1.295V, while the motherboard displayed 1.332V to 1.334V. Turning off XMP reduced the voltage to 1.05V. I haven't extensively worked with voltage adjustments before; I usually rely on the curve optimizer and avoid manual changes. Since I'm not very experienced with this, it's hard to say if the CPU was the cause of the blue screen. Examining the minidumps suggested typical memory problems, and he has a 6400CL32 kit. I've heard that anything above 6000 can cause instability with Zen 4, so it's possible. But the main concern is whether three weeks at that voltage could lead to significant damage.

It’s highly likely there’s RAM instability. My 7800x3D handles 6400CL32 quite well, but it seems he isn’t performing as expected.

The sensor I trust is accurate. Gigabyte connects the voltage sensors near the VRM output instead of the CPU, which means they consistently show higher values. If you measure directly on the CPU, it will read around 1.3V—fully correct. Most AM5 processors can't reliably run DDR5 6400, and those that can usually need a stable 1.4V VSOC to stay steady. Achieving 6400 at just 1.3V requires an exceptional IMC. Try reducing the clock speed to about 6200 (many chips handle 6000, especially those supporting 6400) while keeping XMP enabled. If SOC voltage is a priority, consider lowering it to 1.25 or 1.2V—it should remain stable—but always run a memory stress test to verify performance.

My 7950x3D consistently registers 1.39V on both CCDs according to HWinfo, without any signs of issues. I tested mine by swapping the cooler and confirmed no damage, and it remains at a maximum of 1.39V even with the latest UEFI update. I've never changed the voltage manually, except for PBO2.
