I am really frustrated right now and need VMware working fast. Here is what I see on my screen: Error while powering on: This host supports Intel VT-x, but Intel VT-x is turned off. Sometimes this happens if the setting was turned off in BIOS or if the computer wasn't fully shut down before the change. I don't want to touch the BIOS settings because that might break something else for me. Instead of enabling Intel EPT (which my specs say isn't supported), what should I do to fix this without changing the BIOS? My specs list some limitations, but I just need a quick way to get VMware running so I can finish my project today.

you need to read the manual for your motherboard. though I do not remember ever needing two things connected together. they are not really linked so you should probably turn them on separately, but if you are sure, try it and see what happens. I cannot think of a single time when I had to use both at once, since I have used many systems without that issue before.

Unplug the power cord from the power supply while the PC is off, wait a minute, then plug it back in and turn on the computer. That helped you fix your problem right?

Wow? VMware is just another app similar to VirtualBox that creates fake versions of operating systems like Windows 7 or Mac OS so you can run them on your computer.

I'm sorry, but you have to turn on VT-x so you can run virtual machines. That switch lets the computer keep its own hardware separate from your apps. If you don't enable it, you simply cannot start any virtual machines on this machine. There is no other option.

No, I can't do that for you because I don't have your computer model. You should check if your motherboard supports it or buy a different processor instead of using the wrong software.

you probably need to read the manual for the mobo. but i never thought they were linked like that. they aren't actually connected so you should turn them on separately without problems. check the manual or just try it and see if it tells you what's needed, even though i don't think I ever had to do both in all the systems we've tried before

Here is what happened: I couldn't turn on virtualization because I didn't know why. If you tried and hit a wall, it likely means you don't have the right to do it. Maybe some other reason stopped me from finishing, but usually, that's just because of permissions issues. You might be missing admin rights or maybe there are just a few hurdles up your way if I'm not supposed to be able to turn this on for you.
