You're planning to set up VmWare ESXi on your server. Do you want a dedicated operating system specifically for connecting to the virtual machines over the internet? Yes, there is an additional OS designed for that purpose. When you boot your PC, it should automatically link to the VM.

Esxi maintains your usual method of accessing files without altering how you interact with them. Typically, you'd need a VPN for external data access. You might prefer setting up a local file server that stays active and connects automatically at startup.

Are you wondering if any operating system developed by VmWare exists solely for connecting to virtual machines?

VMware is meant for handling virtual machines, not for accessing the services they provide.

It seems you're referring to continuing to use VMware ESXi. Would you like to know more about it?

The approach involves using VMWare View (VDI) together with a PCoIP Zero Client. This setup allows the Zero Client to automatically connect to the image it has been assigned, which is useful for studying. Note that Citrix and KVM offer their own proprietary VDI solutions.
