Hello, I’m looking into running MacOS on a Dell Latitude laptop. Instead of risking damage, I’m considering a more stable OS and setting up a virtual machine inside it. I’m searching for guides or resources about Linux Mint or other lightweight operating systems that could be easier for someone new to using Macs. Since my Linux experience is mainly on servers, I’m not sure how to approach this desktop side.

A hackintosh can work with your installed OS without damaging it. Running OS X inside a virtual machine means graphics won’t perform well, making it less ideal for everyday tasks. You might prefer macOS because Linux tends to run better on older hardware.

I don’t need much time before I upgrade. A hackintosh can’t ruin anything, but the thought of updating my BIOS is enough to make me nervous. I’m thinking about Bug Sur for smoother speed. Apple’s macOS feels better with its clean interface and works well with other Apple gadgets. Since I don’t have the skills for an actual Mac, I thought it might be a fun alternative to explore.

You might need to flash a BIOS to ensure proper boot functionality. This hardware refers to the computer's motherboard or system that runs mac OS inside a virtual environment. Using mac OS in a VM can cause performance issues, so it’s better to try a lightweight Linux distribution instead.

You don’t need to modify the BIOS to install or set up this system. It should work fine out of the box.

Open core functions as a bootloader that works without needing BIOS modifications. Trying a hackintosh is possible, but it can be challenging if you lack mac experience.

I believed it was a BIOS update. I should test it then. Appreciate the help!
