I just got a used i2 Windows 7 Pro laptop and wanted to reset it to factory settings so it’s ready for personal use without any login details.

No common approach existed for this task on Windows 7. Consider reinstalling the OS or checking if the device maker offers recovery options.

I’m starting fresh with Windows 7 reinstallation. You don’t need the old user’s password since you’re using a different method. The domain login requires the school-specific password, so you’ll need to obtain it through proper channels before proceeding.

You’ll need a flash drive or an old-school DVD burner, plus another machine. Most likely, you’ll have to purchase Windows again. The license may depend on being part of that school domain, so check for a product key sticker if it’s still there—it should be valid through Windows 10. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/wind...c3b507420d This could be a chance to switch to Linux, but you’ll still require a flash drive and another computer.

Occasionally makers add backup sections you can use to reinstall windows. Check if your gadget has them. These are usually available when starting up by pressing a specific key (depends on the brand).

I'll check when I get back, but the issue I'm facing is that I have to clean it up first before I can do anything. That's why I need assistance.

Format the HDD and reinstall Windows. Choose between Windows 7 or Windows 10 LTS (pre-debug enterprise version).

Sure, go ahead and give it a shot once you understand the steps.

You only require a bootable Windows USB, which can be used to format during one of the setup phases.

Sure, you can create it for Windows 7. Note that Microsoft doesn’t support it there, but it should work on Windows 10 with an i2 processor.
