Competitive online games fit the definition of electronic sports since they involve teams, goals, and rules just like traditional sports—but they also rely heavily on the digital aspect. It’s important to recognize that I’m not arguing games aren’t sports altogether, but rather highlighting a more focused form we call e-sports. They share similarities with sports like football but are distinct in their electronic nature. This distinction suggests that discussing them through conventional TV isn’t ideal, as most enthusiasts already have the necessary equipment and streaming access. The current cable TV landscape seems outdated for this context.
