I understand you're referring to competitive gaming as a mainstream sport similar to traditional sports like football.

They're named 'esports' because that's how they're officially referred to.

Check it on TV? Why not on the computer? The change wouldn't be much. Esport is already available for streaming on Twitch and YouTube.

I supported the decision, though I don’t see the point in making it seem like a game. I’d like it to be recognized as a challenging environment by those who aren’t actually into gaming. For instance, my mom still believes video games are only for kids.

It has aired on television several times. I recently watched a CSGO competition on TNT a few weeks back.

In the conventional way, it isn't considered a sport. It falls into the same group as chess, though with significantly more intensity. This could eventually lead to it being shown on television someday, but we must clearly separate Esports from traditional sports.

As VR games gain traction and require physical skills, they might qualify as a sport. Currently, they should remain categorized under esports for competitive play.

Yes, I watched an Overwatch and CS:GO tournament on TV (Eleague Major Atlanta). It really demands a lot of talent.

E-sports aren't considered sports, and not all competitive games qualify as sports. Professional gamers aren't necessarily athletes.
