This might seem a simple question, but I'm starting a new PC and learning how to build a loop for the first time. I already own a GTX 980TI and plan to buy the latest NVIDIA card when it arrives. Should I keep everything air cooled until the new card comes out, or should I start building the loop now? If I assemble the loop with my 980TI, would I just be able to install the new card without needing a new water block or adjusting the pipe layout?

You might consider testing the CPU loop first, then proceed with air until your components are ready.
Blocks often don’t work across generations, so a 980TI block likely won’t fit an 11xx series card without modifications.
It’s better to wait and purchase what you need.

You might consider testing a loop with just the CPU first, but I’ll start with air until you’re ready with your components. Blocks often don’t work the same across generations, and it’s unlikely a 980TI block will fit an 11xx series card without modifications. It’s better to wait and purchase what you need. Thanks for the advice—I was expecting otherwise but thought it would help to consult experienced people. I’ll keep running air, collect more ideas, and refine my design until I have the new card.

I considered skipping the purchase of the GPU cooler since compatibility seems unlikely. I plan to wait before proceeding further...
