VGA light on new build
VGA light on new build
Sorry for submitting a question that’s been asked before. I’m still struggling to understand the answers I’ve found.
I’m constructing a new setup:
ROG STRIX Z690-A WIFI D4
I7-13700K
64GB (2x32) G-Skill DDR4-4000
Crucial T700 SSD
My GPU is present, but it hasn’t been installed for debugging. The monitor connects directly to the DisplayPort port on the motherboard.
When I try to boot the machine, the white VGA light stays illuminated. I previously resolved this with ASUS and had it repaired, but now the issue persists. This indicates the problem isn’t with the motherboard. I’ve rechecked all cables and connections, but nothing seems to work.
I’m guessing the fault lies with the CPU or memory, though I don’t have another machine to test them in isolation.
Anyone have advice on how to proceed?
Thanks,
Ben
Do you know if the display port cable and monitor are compatible with DP 1.4a? I faced this problem before with a low-quality cable, which caused flickering instead of no image at all, but a better cable has prevented that in the past. I think your motherboard should have RAM and CPU LEDs that don’t light up during startup, so I’d begin by checking the cable first.
