VGA light
VGA light
Hello, I recently assembled a new PC but didn’t replace the graphics card since I had one available. Now I’m stuck trying to access the BIOS because the VGA indicator stays lit, though booting into Windows works without issues and the light remains on. Could you help figure out what’s happening? The specs include an Intel i7-14700F, 32GB Corsair Vengeance 6400 MT/s, B760 AURUS ELITE AX MSI, GTX 1050 Ti, 850W PSU, and Sharkoon power supply.
Navigating BIOS on contemporary devices can sometimes be tricky. Follow the guidelines closely and proceed with caution. If booting remains difficult, remove all storage devices—this often restarts you into BIOS without an operating system installed. Another option is resetting the CMOS memory. Because your motherboard appears unstable, consider updating to the latest stable BIOS file and then clearing the CMOS again. Good luck!
Thanks for the advice, now I can access the BIOS after resetting the CMOS, but the VGA indicator stays lit when I'm in BIOS or Windows, and I still don't see the boot screen. I also noticed another issue—my CPU speed drops to 2.75GHz during a multicore stress test, and it sometimes stops when starting a game or during normal tasks, though it stays below 50°C. The display presents the BIOS key, boot menu, and Q-flash button, along with the Windows boot screen. I use HWinfo 64 for temperature readings. It initially increases to 250W or 100W before dropping to 65W, but none of the sensors exceed 50°C. After stopping the test, it returns to 5GHz.
It is possible that there is a glitch in your BIOS. Maybe flashing the BIOS again can clear the glitch. Since that CPU has a tdp of 65W, I'd expect it to run at 65W most of the time. But with Intel CPUs, they can boost to higher power as long as there is enough cooling. I'm not sure you can enable/disable these features on a B-series chipset motherboard. If you check in the BIOS for Precision Boost Overdrive or another boost option for the CPU, you may be able to do something about it. Good luck !
