Indeed, all devices are affected. I typically turn it off since it bothers me. Recently Microsoft updated the settings, meaning even without automatic driver setup it still installs GPU drivers. However, you can disable this option using DDU as we discussed earlier.

I just completed all the procedures for the DDU setup. I used the 1060 in safe mode, removed AMD drivers first, cleared the Windows driver settings and chose not to restart. Then I uninstalled NVIDIA drivers and selected restart—also followed the steps in the Windows Control Panel to disable driver updates. While installing a new card, I reset the CMOS, confirmed the PCIe slot latch was fully down, and connected the 8-pin power cable properly. The system booted up and showed a DRAM error. I turned it off and back on, cycling through DRAM and VGA errors before finally stabilizing at the VGA red light. I’m really unsure how I managed to get everything working so smoothly.

If the GTX 1060 functions properly, I would return the 6600. Likely there’s a problem with the card itself. You might test it on another device if possible. Note: It’s worth checking whether the card runs at the correct speed in the second PCI-E slot—use GPU-Z to monitor its performance under load.

I haven’t tested the speed yet—I’ll check soon, maybe install cinebench. Many discussions mention people with similar issues, mostly about using only the main slot without a GPU. A couple of threads I found had the same problem and said replacing or reseating the CPU helped. I’m curious, if I take out the cooler and reinsert the CPU, do I still need the cooler back in before booting? I just want to reach the screen where the BIOS menu appears during startup.

It makes sense now, what’s confusing is that it functions with 1060. It’s a solid plan to keep the cooler on. Just take the cooler off, clean the CPU with a towel, leave the remaining thermal paste on the cooler, and put it directly on the CPU.

I’ll try reseating the CPU shortly. In GPU-Z it shows a clock speed of 2044mHZ, and I’m running the FurMark GPU stress test. The main concern is that the RX 6600’s TDP is about 130W, but I’m only using around 100W at peak GPU load, while the temperature reaches 50°C. It seems the performance is significantly lower than it should be compared to the original PCIE slot.

I achieved GPU functionality on another machine with 100W power during the FurMark test, achieving a score of 7400, whereas my primary system (with RX 6600) typically scores 6300–6500. The updated documentation claims x16 PCIe support, but the GPU appears to be running at PCIE x8 1.1 instead.
