Hello everyone. I’m just starting out here. I’m planning to purchase hardware for my first PC. It will be used for CAD/CAM and CNC control software. The system needs to operate quietly, especially when working in Inventor and Fusion, with sufficient power for demanding simulations. I’m considering Intel’s 13th generation (i7) or AMD 7000 series (7900) for a silent setup. My reasoning is that lower heat means less noise. I’ve looked up information online, but I still lack hands-on experience. The AMD X processors have a maximum temperature of around 95°C, no matter the performance gains. I assume such algorithms would make the machine very loud. But what workloads push these CPUs to reach that temperature? I read that users set the BIOS power limit to the recommended maximum of 200W for the 7900X, which should help with cooling and reduce noise. I’m not sure how this affects performance. I’ve heard that 13th gen processors can get hot under heavy use. If the i7 is also limited to 253W in the BIOS, the 7900X might run cooler than the i7 at full load. However, keeping quiet during heavy tasks isn’t my priority. For everyday tasks like assembly in Fusion and Inventor, I’d prefer a quieter machine. I’m curious—should I choose Team Red or Blue?
Noise increases with temperature, so cooling systems must handle more heat. Simple fixes work best when airflow is strong enough to remove warmth without overheating. Fans that run smoothly at low speeds produce less sound. Adjusting fan settings so they activate only at higher speeds can help. For my experience, Intel CPUs benefit from water cooling with a built-in cooler, while AMD users can use air cooling and a solid tower cooler. Invest in a case with good ventilation—many high-quality options exist across all price ranges. Right now, the Fractal Torrent stands out among choices. For more details on cases, visit Gamers Nexus.
Thanks for the feedback. I meant exactly what you described. Your positive review on YouTube really helped. I was considering a 10/15% boost, but it seems unnecessary for my needs. The non x seems like a good choice for me.
