I purchased Arma 3 after the free weekend. Obviously, I really enjoy it. The main issue is the low FPS. On a Stratis wasteland server, I’m getting 20-25 FPS cruising in a truck and only 10-18 during gunfights. With five or more friendly players nearby, my 270x should work fine. My CPU is an A10 7850K at 4.3 GHz, and I have about 8 GB of RAM—maybe that’s the bottleneck? I’m planning to upgrade to Intel in a month or two, but this low FPS is really frustrating.

you still choose to purchase arma 3 despite its demanding performance because the game engine requires a lot of processing power, making it frustrating on lower-end systems. there’s little you can realistically change beyond upgrading your hardware.

It's normal. The game uses a lot of CPU power. I'm running a 4690k with 280x resolution, and sometimes it drops below 30 frames per second.

I remember the engine in Arma 2 was really poor. I think the updated version in Arma 3 isn't much better either.

Obtain a new processor. Previously, I had an FX 8350 paired with a GTX 760 and upgraded to an i5 4690K, which improved my gaming from 15fps in multiplayer to 60-70. Single-player performance should also work well on your CPU. The real strain comes during multiplayer sessions.

Absolutely, that's what I believed. I found somewhere mentioning an Arma 3 special launcher where you can set it to use eight cores if you have an i7 or an FX 8000 series processor. That sounds interesting. Also, I placed the settings in Steam’s launch properties—Command: -cpuCount=4, -exThreads=4, high performance mode, max memory 6144, no pause, no splash, empty world, no logs. I think using the high performance power plan might help, as it keeps the cores running at full speed.

The game isn't working properly and the developer doesn't appear to be addressing it.

The game relies on a single main component, which causes performance issues.
