I'm experiencing difficulties with my AM5 setup where memory consumption spikes to near full capacity, causing significant slowness. This issue occurs with two different memory modules and both are listed in the QVL. I've used two distinct motherboards—Gigabyte X670 Aorus Elite AX and Asus Strix X670E-E Gaming WiFi—and switched between G.Skill F5-6000J3038F16GX2-TZ5NR and Corsair Dom Plats CMT64GX5M2B6000Z30. The CPU runs the R9 7900X. In Task Manager, Chrome is the only application exceeding 1GB RAM usage. I've closed all windows that load heavily, but the problem persists daily. After rebooting, performance improves for about 24 hours before requiring another restart due to ongoing memory strain. This pattern occurs with both 32GB and 64GB kits. I currently have the Asus MB and Corsair RAM installed, but the root cause remains unclear.

Try resetting Windows. It’s likely there’s an issue with data retention or malware interfering, so a fresh start should resolve most problems more smoothly.

I've restored it multiple times across both systems. Around four clean installations were done, each time without any additional drives attached. It was set up on a 4TB Crucial T700 drive.

This doesn’t appear to be a hardware problem—Chrome shouldn’t be present during a fresh Windows setup. Once you land on the desktop after reinstalling, observe how memory consumption changes over time. Begin adding software gradually while keeping an eye on memory usage. Likely, a synced Chrome extension or another installed app is causing the issue.

I've set up Chrome along with other drivers and apps, but I'm still struggling to identify the cause of the high memory usage. This issue didn't affect my 5900X build even though I have the same software installed.

I’ll consider implementing and tracking it as well.

After restarting on the Windows desktop following a new installation, check memory usage—it should remain within normal ranges. Once you start installing software, observe where performance begins to affect.

This appears to be a Chrome problem. I've moved to Opera Browser and haven't experienced any high memory usage again.

Vivaldi is a different Chrome alternative, though it remains Chromium-based. It’s not from China, if you’re paying attention.
