I assembled this system roughly two months back. The PCPartPicker list includes a part for a CPU cooler from Corsair, priced at $99.00. I also purchased an MSI B450 ATX motherboard for $181.00 and G.Skill memory for $106.70. Additionally, I bought a Samsung SSD for $315.00 and a Sapphire Radeon RX 5700 XT graphics card for $671.00. The case and power supply were sourced from PCCaseGear and BudgetPC respectively. My total came to $1909.70 after taxes and shipping. I was checking hwinfo and noticed my CPU voltage dropped to around 1.45v when usage reached about 8%. That’s concerning because anything above 1.3v can damage the chip. I ran Prime95 and saw the voltage stabilize at 1.35v, which is still high. I’m not sure what’s causing this and want advice on whether to be worried or how to fix it.

These components differ from what you're used to. 1.4v is standard.

I adjusted the voltage to 1.225V in BIOS, but during idle it occasionally reached 1.225 while under full load on all cores and threads, dropping slightly to 1.212V when stressing everything.

AMD Zen 2 models differ in their handling of single-thread performance, using elevated voltages during idle states. Sub-1.5V is typical for light workloads. Intel has increased voltages for high-load scenarios, which might have allowed them to achieve better boost frequencies. Upcoming uArch updates likely aim to maintain competitiveness without further manual adjustments. This explains why AMD CPUs are rarely modified compared to Intel ones—they naturally reach their limits.

my usage stays at a minimum level, around 90%, most of the time on my computer.

Verify c-states availability in BIOS. Confirm Windows performance level is High Performance. Note that manual BIOS voltage adjustment may be required.

And that's all we need to say—it's standard function, not something to worry about. These components are designed for increased voltage handling. Greater voltage with reduced current improves efficiency. It also eases the load on the Mobo.
