I've got a gaming PC with a B450 Max that's been causing problems for years. I think the issue lies in the CPU socket, as I notice different debug lights when I rearrange RAM channels. Everything else seems fine—new parts except the motherboard. The pins look good, but the back holes don't match up with other AM4 boards I've seen. This situation has really discouraged me from building another computer. It's been a frustrating experience from the beginning. Also, the liquid stain around it came from using 99% alcohol to clean it.
If there’s an issue with the socket, it’s unlikely to fix on your own. It’s likely a manufacturing flaw with the board, which can only be addressed through an RMA. Given you’ve owned this board for years, it probably isn’t eligible for an RMA anymore. Without more details, it’s tough to confirm exactly what’s wrong. If you’re sure it’s the motherboard, just swap it out and continue forward.
The issue involved pins bending in the CPU socket, which I thought was due to poor visibility from incorrect lighting. In short, I swapped out the motherboard and everything worked fine. I also purchased a replacement and restored full performance. Now I need to address the BIOS settings on my card.
