Preparing to place an order for Ubiquiti gear, I need a fresh perspective to double-check everything. Here’s what I’m considering: the Dream Machine Pro Standard with 24 ports and PoE, Network Video Recorder with two 8GB drives, G5 Bullet G4 (originally planned as two G5s but now paired with UNVR), G4 Doorbell Pro PoE U6 Pro access point. This replaces a Linksys switch from BestBuy plus several Nest cameras. I have a 1GB Bell Fiber connection and plan to use Cat6 cables for all connections, swapping out the mismatched patch cables. According to the Ubiquiti planner, the U6 Pro should cover my home adequately, with room to expand later. Regarding the UI Care extended warranty, it adds roughly $400 for eligible items. I’m also thinking about other options that might be better or more economical.

It's worth noting that with five cameras and a 3TB storage device in the Dream Machine Pro, you receive roughly a month of recordings. The NVR could be a bit more, but it's your investment.

I think the NVR might not be needed for those few cameras. I’d also choose the Dream machine pro special edition over the regular one. The Poe ports make it easy to run cameras and access points, and the 2.5 gb wan offers better long-term support. I’d go with the u7 pro instead of the 6 pro. At $189 it’s a reasonable price and adds more future-proofing.

I noticed some users had problems with UDMP stability when using it for video. I can always improve it later if needed. I’m considering switching to SE and the U7 Pro, though both are currently unavailable on the site. The u7 also costs $239 in Canada. If I remove the UNVR, maybe I can refresh some other details. Do you know how often stock updates appear on their platform?
