Hello, just confirming your plan. Upgrading from a 3900x to a 5800x3D 16GB Aorus RGB 3600mHz to a 32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro SL 3600 mHz, plus a Samsung 970 EVO Plus with 500GB storage, will require a BIOS update that resets everything back to defaults. You’ll reinstall Windows 10 but test it with Windows 11 for a short time. I’ve downloaded the latest drivers and software, including benchmark tools, and am backing up important files and games—no need to re-download them. Are there any other steps you should consider before proceeding? Your 4TB WD Red Pro is being backed up, and your 2TB Samsung 870 QVO for games is also prepared. I hope the upgrade goes smoothly and everything stays intact. Thanks in advance!
Everything looks fine, enjoy your new setup. Just keep it running smoothly unless there’s a problem.
It’s not necessary to reinstall Windows because it runs on Ryzen CPUs—just update the chipset drivers and refresh the BIOS. Duplicate your old SSD onto the new one. This is just a heads-up; reinstalling Windows can be risky, especially with Windows 11… you’re adding potential points of failure without clear justification. By the way, the 5800X3D model doesn’t really gain much from high-speed RAM, so consider upgrading to 3200 RAM instead. Personally, I’d also caution against using Corsair Vengeance RAM—expect more frequent crashes if you go that way.
I’ve already purchased it just to double-check I won’t skip any steps when installing the new components. I plan to run a memtest on the new RAM before moving on to storage. I’m thinking about closing the drive but don’t know which software to use. My intention is to reinstall Windows for a clean start, removing any leftover files from previous uninstallations. I’ll try to begin with as fresh a setup as possible.
