vcore 1.234v 6600k
vcore 1.234v 6600k
Hi
I'm just checking if the way I overclocked my 6600k is safe and typical, especially since this is my first time trying it and I'm not very familiar with the process.
I checked the BIOS on my ASUS Z170A, then reset all settings, used Ai Tweaker to switch AI Overclock to manual, set the CPU core ratio to 46, adjusted the Vcore to 1.234, and turned off XMP. I didn't modify any other BIOS parameters.
After running a 30-minute AIDA64 stability test, everything worked fine with a max CPU temperature of 66°C.
Could you confirm if these settings are safe for my system?
My components include a Coolermaster Hyper TX 3 cooler, 2*4 GB SKILL Z 3200 RAM, and a Corsair 650W PSU.
What additional recommendations would you suggest to get the most out of it?
Thanks
66C isn't a problem at all when you consider the cooler. Just set the voltage back to 1.2, turn on the XMP profile, and give it another try.
Personally I believe that is excessive. It's important to understand what occurs when you lower the voltage, how you reached 1.234, and what actions you took to confirm it was suitable.

I need to look into OC'ing this. The voltage changes from chip to chip, so I can't give a definite answer. I think 1.234 is high. Did you choose that value because you began at 1.1 and kept raising it until stability was achieved? I started at 1.2v but it failed the stability test. Then I reduced the core ratio to 45 and set the Vcore to 1.2, and it's working now. What are your thoughts?
