fx 4300 works fine with x264, even bl2 and Minecraft. I’ve seen no game that causes issues when watching FPS. Note: Tested a 2D game at 1080p60, it ran smoothly at 5–20 fps despite minimal CPU or GPU load. GPU/CPU usage doesn’t affect performance.
The HD7850 features one of the earliest VCE implementations, but it's quite unstable and unreliable. I previously used a 7850 and encountered similar issues with OBS—it doesn't perform as expected and reduces frame rates by about 25%. Nvidia handles this better thanks to its dedicated H264 chip rather than relying on the GPU. I must admit, VCE isn't ideal for streaming, particularly version 1.0 which lacks sufficient support. Consider upgrading to a dedicated Nvidia graphics card for smoother performance. The GTX 650 offers comparable speed at a price under $100 and should work well for streaming.
Thanks for the details. I might hold off on the next NVIDIA series cards just yet. OBS comes with a built-in NVIDIA codec by default, and I’m hoping it will work smoothly. I tried using Raptor’s GVR with my R9 270X and it ran perfectly, which suggests the same VCE is reliable. It doesn’t seem to make much sense—maybe OBS has some issues.
