Various speeds displayed for DDR4 RAM
Various speeds displayed for DDR4 RAM
I have some concerns about RAM speeds and haven’t found a complete explanation. I’m worried because I have four DDR4 sticks of 8GB each, using an MSI X99A SLI Plus. The manufacturer claims it supports up to 2133Mhz stock and higher speeds like 2200, 2400, etc., but only through overclocking. Recently, I read about the overclocking capabilities of this stick and decided to try it. After a few tests, I reached 2666Mhz. The BIOS now lists 2666Mhz as the official overclock speed (without XMP), but Windows shows 1333Mhz, which is half of that. CPU-Z displays 1333Mhz as well. The issue seems to be in the SPD section within CPU-Z—some sticks show 2133Mhz or 2400Mhz depending on the manufacturer, even though I got them in pairs. I’m unsure why the numbers differ and hope someone can clarify what’s happening or confirm the actual speed. Thanks!
They were indeed used, they sent another one, and I realized it now. Thanks a lot!
